If carrying all the bits you need for travelling is the bane of your life, a jacket that is basically a wearable travel organiser might solve the problem.
The jacket is the brainchild of San Francisco-based husband and wife team, Hiral Sanghavi and Yoganshi Shah, and they were inspired to design it as a result of their own experiences while travelling for work and leisure. They came up with the idea for a travel jacket that had multiple features and addressed a lot of inconveniences that travellers faced.
A total of 55,000 people backed the project, raising $11.5m and making it the sixth most successful Kickstarter ever and the most funded clothing project in the history of crowdfunding. The BauBax jacket has 15 built-in features, including a built-in inflatable neck pillow that is hidden within the hood of the jacket. With an innovative valve technology, the pillow has a two-second inflation and one-second deflation.
Other features include an eye mask, fingerless gloves, stylus pen, sunglass holder pocket with a built-in microfibre cloth for cleaning lenses, earphone holders, two fleece-lined hand warming pockets, and pockets to hold a smartphone, ten-inch tablet, power bank, drink and passport.
The jackets come in four styles – blazers, bombers, windbreakers and sweatshirts – and are available to both men and women in a variety of colours and sizes. They range in price from €109.99 to €169.99. Now that they are in production, the company hopes to launch other products to help solve travel inconvenience.
