Geneva is set to welcome a new initiative that aims to introduce residents to a range of hotels across the city by offering special discounted rates for one night only.
Taking place on the 26 January 2018 for one night only, La nuit de l’hôtellerie, or “Hotels Night” in English, will allow residents of Geneva the opportunity to book into participating four-star hotels for 100 francs (approximately €85) or one five-star hotel for 150 francs (approximately €130). The campaign will introduce residents to hotels in an effort to promote the selection to friends, families and colleagues of local people that may visit in the future. The evening will also see hotel staff making special recommendations to guests for events, tastings, lectures, tours and other surprise events.
“I had this idea because the citizens of a town are the ones that know the least about their hotels. But when they travel, they should be the ones who can represent their city. I want to give them a chance to push open the door of the places they pass by every day,” Vanessa Weill of La nuit de l’hôtellerie told Lonely Planet Travel News. The campaign will also see a series of presentations and industry events taking place in collaboration with hotel schools so that young audiences can discover jobs in the industry and speak directly with professionals working in the field.
People taking part in the experience must show proof of residency in Geneva when booking by presenting a passport, and reservations must be made in advance directly to the desired hotel. Participating hotels include Hotel Bristol Geneva, the Crowne Plaza, Grand Hotel Kempinski, Intercontinental and Starling.
