Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson will host a comedy festival in the sky

If you weren’t excited enough that the new season of Broad City is on the air, one of the hit TV show’s creators, Abbi Jacobson, will be hosting a comedy festival at 35,000 feet – and the world can watch on social media.

The actor, writer, illustrator and comedian has teamed up with Virgin Atlantic to celebrate the airlines’ launch of fleet-wide Wi-Fi with a social media comedy festival. Jacobson will be bringing five funny friends on board a flight on 28 September, where they will perform comedy sets in tweets and Instagram Stories from Virgin Atlantic flights. The comedians will each fly from London to one of six US cities – New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, all while posting bits from the sky.

It’s the latest #LiveFromVirgin event, and the full list of comedians will be announced on the airlines’ Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages in the coming days.

“I’m really excited about this project and the creative control that Virgin Atlantic is giving me, not only over the lineup I’m building but the form my performance takes,” said Jacobson in a statement. “I’m definitely looking to use the opportunity to experiment, take some risks, and see what happens.” Luckily, comedy-lovers don’t need to book a ticket to enjoy the in-flight comedy festival, since it will all be on social media.
