One of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods has just introduced floating homes

It’s one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in the world right now and Dubai’s Business Bay has just added what will be sure to amaze, even in a city that so often astounds – floating homes.

The UAE’s first-ever water home floated along the Dubai Canal this week before settling into the bay. The homes will bring a bit of life to the commercial hub as it grows into a thriving neighbourhood. Lonely Planet recently named Business Bay one of the 10 coolest neighbourhoods in the world as the area reinvents itself as a waterfront leisure destination.

The new homes are a project of Dubai Properties and are are part of efforts to make the area a “truly urban lifestyle destination”. Once complete, Business Bay will feature water homes that come with pools and will be surrounded by floating restaurants. The company also says there will be a park, pier and marina that will eventually make up 800 berths along the canal, and will be the region’s first purpose-built yachting hub in the city centre.

The water homes are designed to transform waterfront living in the emirate, but the properties have not yet been sold, which means if you’d like to be a part of the up-and-coming neighbourhood, there’s still hope. As a neighbourhood on the rise, Business Bay has a lot to offer both visitors and locals, with great proximity to Dubai’s amazing downtown core, a 12 km promenade along the canal, and plenty of new shops, restaurants and more.
