The real cost of business class versus economy has been revealed in flight snacks

Flight comparison company, Just The Flight, has worked out exactly how many miniature spirits, packets of crisps or bars of chocolate passengers could purchase to make up the price difference between the classes on short-haul flights across Europe.

To ensure fairness, the flight prices were all based on the same day, with the cheapest option in both economy and business class chosen as representative. Equivalent purchases were based on the individual airlines, with in-flight menus taken from their respective websites.

Some of the amusing findings include that the money saved between seats on a flight from London to Rome on British Airways would allow you to purchase 95 cans of Heineken lager, which would be taller than Big Ben if stacked on top of each other.

The money saved between seats on a flight from London to Kiev on Ukraine International Airlines would let you buy 162 tubes of Pringles crisps, more than the height of eight men, or 486 Snickers chocolate bars, equivalent to the weight of a seven-year-old child.

And naturally, we can’t leave the chocolate bar synonymous with flying out. The difference between a flight from London to Zagreb on Croatia Airlines would allow you to take home 186 Toblerones. Who needs to fly in luxury?
