Staying at an airport hotel is usually not the most glamorous travel experience, but a night in this converted former ramp tower at a Swedish airport will certainly prove to be a night worth remembering.
The tower at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport has been empty for 15 years, but has been updated into a unique apartment that lucky travellers can win a night’s stay. Five winners from Sweden and select European countries will get a chance to spend a time there in a competition by the airport and home rental site HomeAway.
The tower has been converted to include a room and kitchen with a panoramic view of the runways. Guests at the apartment will get VIP service, behind-the-scenes access at the airport and amazing culinary experiences.
“It feels great to be able to offer both Swedish and international guests the opportunity to experience this hidden secret at Stockholm Arlanda. At the same time, we see this as an opportunity to showcase everything Scandinavia´s fastest growing airport has to offer,” said the airport’s director Kjell-Åke Westin in a statement.
The winner of the prize can bring up to three guests. As a bonus to their stay in the ramp tower, the winner will also get three extra nights in a HomeAway holiday rental in Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen or Helsinki. The competition is open from 13th June to 30th July, and you can enter here.
