When the evenings get longer and the weather gets warmer, the idea of a refreshing cold drink in a beer garden never fails to appeal. Neither does the idea of a cool, delicious ice cream however, but the two are rarely presented together as an option. Until now, that is, because in a stroke of marketing genius, a hotel in London has found a way of combining the two delights.
The Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch is opening a pop-up gin and tonic ice cream bar for three days in celebration of World Gin Day, which falls on Saturday 10 June 2017. It will cost £5 for the double delight of a G&T-infused ice cream presented with a gin cocktail with twists of mango wedge and black pepper. The hotel has teamed up with Gin Mare for the promotion, which is a Mediterranean gin distilled with Arbequina olives, thyme, rosemary and basil.
For the ice cream, it has collaborated with Ruby Violet, which creates bespoke ice creams, sorbets and frozen delights using only organic milk and fresh ingredients. The botanical-infused ice creams and sorbet in the pop-up bar will be topped with crystallised rosemary, savoury wafers or gin-soaked orange peels. Between the mango, olives and orange peel, you practically have your five-a-day right there, not to mention all those healthy herbs.
