A Japanese restaurant in London is celebrating the spring-to-summer season in a truly unique and stylish way; with a fully-immersive cherry blossom installation accompanied by a menu that features bespoke Suntory Japanese whisky cocktails.
Created by Roka, a robatayaki-inspired Japanese restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia area, the installation celebrates Hanami, the Japanese act of admiring the transient beauty of the sakura in full bloom. The stunning display is located in Shochu, the restaurant’s basement bar that also serves food. Guests can enjoy sakura-inspired cocktails under a canopy of the vibrant pink flowers while sampling dishes from the main restaurant upstairs.
Cocktails include the Kyuri Highball, featuring Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve, cucumber, rice shochu and soda, the Sakura Sour, with Hibiki Japanese Harmony, kumquat, peach and sakura and the Cask Old Fashioned, made with Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve, sobacha syrup, sherry and plum sake. Dishes at the restaurant include black cod, crab and crayfish dumplings, scallop skewers with wasabi and shiso, rock shrimp tempura and a selection of tuna and sashimi.
The cherry blossom installation will be on display at Roka’s Shochu lounge until 7 June, with the restaurant opening seven days a week. More information on visiting is available at the official website.
