Attention Beauty and the Beast fans; a hotel in London is offering a unique fairy tale experience with a special afternoon tea package that will make anyone feel like the Belle of the ball.
Offered by Town House at the Kensington to celebrate the upcoming release of the live-action movie, the Tale as Old as Time Afternoon Tea aims to take guests into the magical world of Beauty and the Beast by offering a selection of tailored sweet and savoury dishes. The food is served on dishware modelled on characters like Mrs. Potts and Chip. The tea includes a vanilla and gold jelly with cream that is presented in a shot glass with the iconic rose petal immersed inside, and a spiced snowball macaroon that references the snowball fight scene from the 1991 animated movie by Disney. There is also a chocolate clock tart that features an image of the character Cogsworth.
As well as offering a selection of sweet treats, the afternoon tea package includes bite-sized venison pie, cheese soufflé, beef ragu and saffron arancini and a selection of sandwiches. In place of traditional scones, visitors can enjoy Marie’s sweet brioche baguette, referring to the local baker from Belle’s hometown in the film. The experience follows an emerging trend that has seen establishments all over the world offering unique dining experiences, such as Harry Potter-themed cafes and Hello Kitty and Super Mario restaurants.
The Tale as Old as Time package costs £35 or £45 per person and is available from 13 February to 30 June. Due to demand, the afternoon tea package is currently sold out until June. However, Town House at the Kensington is due to announce new dates on their website and social media channels in the next few weeks.
