Dubai has long had a reputation for doing things that bit more luxuriously than everywhere else, and it seems its approach to food truck grub is no different.
A new super-burger is being launched, which consists of a heart-stopping five Wagyu beef patties, truffled cheese, seared foie gras, saffron mayonnaise and blackberry ketchup. All that comes topped with an edible 24-carat gold leaf bun. Food truck trader, the Roadery, is behind the monster burger, which it has named the Burg-Khalifa, after Dubai’s landmark Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building. The burger will be available at annual foodie event Eat The World DXB from 23-25 February and cost Dh230. (£50.58) reports the National.
The Roadery owner Dan Shearman said: “with its undisputed reputation for luxury and incredible ability to build almost anything bigger and better than the rest of the world, we couldn’t return to Eat The World DXB without something extra special this year. We’re all extremely proud of The Burg-Khalifa. We’ll have a limited stock so we suggest Dubai foodies get down to Burj Park nice and early – you don’t want to miss this!”

The Roadery are offering free Burg-Khalifas to the first two customers a day at the event to say the secret password, which can be found on the Roadery’s Snapchat account, @TheRoadery. Eat The World DXB will also have a celebrity chef theatre, a food market and an outdoor cinema. Dubai is no stranger to souped-up foodstuffs – over the past few years venues across the city have offered customers caviar pizza, gold-dusted cupcakes, ice cream sundaes served in a Versace bowl (which the customer keeps) and a truffle sandwich.
