If you’re someone who tends to come back from holidays with more than you left with, this magical expanding suitcase could be the piece of luggage of your dreams.
The suitcase, made by Fugu Luggage, can expand from the size of a carry-on suitcase to a full-size check-in, which is handy for those who like to buy souvenirs and holiday bargains.
With its sturdy design, the Fugu can expand to the height of a table, so it can to be used as a desk or make up stand. Its ability to collapse from a check-in case to a carry-on allows travellers to avoid standing in line to check in a large empty suitcase before flying.
When the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet, it takes two minutes to expand to its full size.
The Fugu was funded through a Kickstarter campaign and is now available online. It ships to most countries with prices beginning at $299. The idea for the expanding suitcase came when inventor Isaac Atlas was arguing with his wife over what size luggage he should take on a trip.
Its name is inspired by the Fugu fish, which is the Japanese word for pufferfish, because of its expansion abilities.
Made from the same material used to make surfboards, it includes built-in shelves that can be attached or collapsed to enable the suitcase to double as a storage unit.
