Sir Anthony, who is 79, began painting 12 years ago, encouraged by his wife Stella.
The acrylic paintings on canvas are generally priced between $4000 and $80,000 and are selling well.
When asked about his inspiration, Anthony says that he doesn’t think there’s any meaning in it.
“I just paint,” he says. “I discover as I go along and I don’t analyze, I just go for it. The way my mind is constructed, I like to do things fast and multitask.”
Anthony works from a studio filled with paints, oils, acrylics, tempera bottles, pens, markers, brushes and canvases.
His interest in colourful art was sparked as a child when his father took him into a church and he saw the stained glass windows.
“Coming to California I was attracted by all the colour here,” he says. “You know, we’re not here for long, so I wanted to express colour while I could.”
“It’s something that I am proud of because I want to do everything I can,” the Westworld actor adds. “Time is running out.”
“I used to take myself so seriously, but now I don’t. I allow myself to revel in the exhilarating nature of it all, maybe reaching for the divine.”
