A photographer has shared a stunning new time-lapse video of Iceland that showcases the diverse scenery and picturesque beauty that the country has to offer.
Created by Greek photographer Nick Kontostavlakis, the video features a range of striking locations such as Grotta Lighthouse in Reykjavik, Jökulsárlón glacial lake on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, Black Sand Beach in the village of Vik, Lake Mývatn and Malarrif Lighthouse. The video’s 4k high resolution shows a spectrum of changing weather and light set against buildings, as well as the natural landscapes of the country. “Iceland is the place where there is light and dimness, where long summer days with almost 24-hours of daylight are counterbalanced by short winter days. The scenery still remains, for all intents and purposes, untouched by human progress,” said photographer Nick Kontostavlakis.
The video is called, “Whispering Iceland”, and features shots of the rich arctic sun as well as moody images of a cool landscape. The photographer’s techniques create a saturated, dreamlike and highly detailed image in an effort to reflect his own thoughts on nature and the unpredictability of the wilderness. “It’s something about time-lapse photography, it brings to life the dynamic forces of nature”, said Nick. More of Nick’s work is available at his website.
