Banish the blues by planning a trip to one of these winter sun music festivals

If the darker weather is getting you down, there’s only thing to do; set your sights on more tropical climates for a different type of festive fun. If you long to dance in the sun, here are three winter sun music festivals to get you dreaming of blues skies and banging beats again.

Epizode, Phú Quốc, Vietnam

A brand new two-week electronic music festival is landing on the shores of Vietnam’s biggest island on 31 December until 14 January. A big line-up has already been announced featuring renowned names from the house and techno music scenes.

It’s not just about the music however, as the festival will also have a huge emphasis on arts and culture and the promoters promise a fantastic array of installations and sporting events to keep revellers occupied. It will be tough to get bored however, with a location like Phu Quoc to explore. With its white sandy beaches and dense forest, you’ll have plenty to do and there are lots of resorts on the island to stay in for the duration of the festival, as well as day trips to take if you fancy a break from boogying.

SXM, St Martin, Caribbean

If you’d prefer to hit the Caribbean for your winter festival,  the second edition of the SXM Festival could be on the cards. Among the rolling green hills and secluded coves, the festival will take over several venues throughout the island and at times will even take the music to the seas with an exciting boat party.

There will be a special jungle venue dedicated to techno, as well as several secret after-parties in villas around the island (if you can blag your way in of course). If not, you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained with the island’s international reputation for fusion cuisines, vibrant nightlife and friendly, diverse locals. After rave reviews last year, tickets are sure to snap up.
