With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, it is always nice to know that kindness still exists in this world. Taryn Keith, who lives in Houston, Texas, posted a photo of a tip her boyfriend Ben Millar (22) received from one of his customers. The generous customer left a $750 (£602) tip on a $122.87 (£98) bill, with a note saying: “Hopefully, this can get you back to Ireland for the holidays.”
The note went viral after it was shared on Love What Matters’s Facebook page with more than 6000 shares. Taryn wrote on her Facebook page: “My boyfriend got this tip last night at work. “He’s from Ireland and is trying to take us back there once Killian is born so we can meet his family. Thought I would share it to show everyone that’s there is not only hate out there. Truly blessed.” Ben (22) from Belfast had been planning to bring his girlfriend who is eight months pregnant and baby home to meet his family once their new baby is born.
He got chatting to a customer at the restaurant where he worked over a shared love for Irish band U2. The customer told Ben he had been to Ireland to see the band perform in Dublin. Ben said he would dearly love to get home to see his family and introduce them to his baby (to be named Killian) when he is born in January.
The customer, whose name is Jeffrey, left so fast that Ben never got the chance to thank him, so hopefully he will get the message through the power of social media.
