If you’ve ever felt that a cruise holiday takes all the mystery out of travel, it may be time to try one where the itinerary is provided in a series of riddles that will reveal the destinations.
The new Secret Sailaway cruise will provide customers with the departure and return dates, but the details of the itinerary – including cruise destinations, stop-overs and connection flights – are hidden in riddles. Travellers will have two choices: they can either enjoy the mystery or try and solve the riddles and find out where they are going. They can also choose to have the answers revealed after they pay for the cruise, or keep the destinations a mystery until they board.
The trip is on sale at Bolsover Cruise Club – based in the UK – and priced at £12,339 for a cruise that will take in no less than six destinations in 16 nights, “along with several five-star stop-overs in some of the world’s best hotels”.
“The idea behind the Riddle Cruise is that we wanted to provoke people’s interest in the destinations,” said Michael Wilson, managing director of Bolsover Cruise Club in a statement. “Travelling is not as adventurous as it once was. You can find out everything about where you’re going before you’re within a thousand miles. This is our attempt to bring back some of the adventure, albeit with all the comforts of a luxury cruise”. He notes that many people may think they’ve cracked the riddles, but they may find out they were wrong, “perhaps even wrong by a few continents”.
