The 8.4-acre Cedar Island, located in the archipelago of northern Lake Champlain, will be sold at or above $850,000 on 12 October, although it was previously listed for $1.7 million.
The island is a site for boating, kayaking and fishing, and it has a famous reef and great natural beauty. The main residence has five bedrooms and two bathrooms, and features stone fireplaces with a wood stove, vaulted pine ceilings and cherry hardwood floors.
You can luxuriate on its deck, which comes complete with hot tub, or hang out in the outdoor lounge area, which has a fireplace, There’s also a gazebo overlooking the pastoral lawn and a tennis court where you can improve your backhand.
If you fancy having guests to stay, they can have their own space in either the one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest cottage or artist cottage on the island. Luxury auctioning house, Concierge Auctions, is handling the sale on behalf of a family from Connecticut, who have used the island as a getaway for the past decade.
You need not fear being isolated on the island, however, as it is a mere five-minute boat ride to the mainland marina in South Hero and approximately 16 miles outside of Burlington.
However, you will have amazing privacy, and of course, there’s the luxury of being able to channel your inner Richard Branson with your very own private island.
