A small Vermont town invited Kevin Bacon to their annual bacon festival...and he responded

Vermont festival celebrating all things bacon has just gotten one very famous RSVP.

The Brattleboro Baconfest – now in its third year – is a celebration of all things “bacon, blues and brews” in the small town of Guilford, Vermont. Their love of bacon doesn’t just extend to tasty breakfast food however as the festival organisers have been busy on a social media blitz to get actor Kevin Bacon to attend their festival. The actor – who is in fact a famous vegetarian – posted the RSVP from a beautiful, sunny Vancouver where he is currently filming. He sent his regrets that he couldn’t attend due to work commitments but praised the “hilarious” efforts to get this attention and the beauty of Vermont state.

The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce set up a dedicated Facebook page to convince the actor to make an appearance and has been snapping photos of a Kevin Bacon cut-out appearing all over the town this summer to grab the actor’s attention. Though the festival’s efforts to ‘bring home the bacon’ weren’t entirely successful, their efforts and the actor’s response have made headlines and drawn more attention to the festival. They’ll close the festival with a screening of the 1984 film Footloose. If you’d like to attend the Brattleboro Baconfest in Kevin’s absence, head to the Guilford Fairgrounds on Saturday 17 September for craft beer, local bacon recipes and a Hog Jog, though it might be advisable to complete the race before indulging in the food and drink.
