Hold a DIY dinner party at a pop-up IKEA dining club in London

If you love the DIY aspect of IKEA furniture, then a new food-related pop-up may be just what you need. The Swedish furniture giant has launched a “dining club” in London that allows visitors to make their own meals under the supervision of a master chef.

The Dining Club by IKEA will run from 10 September to 25 September at the N&C Shoreditch, East London. According to the company, the pop-up features not only the do-it-yourself restaurant, but also an IKEA café serving Swedish foods, workshops and a virtual reality kitchen.

Visitors have to apply online for the 38 sessions available at the restaurant. If selected they can invite seven to 19 friends to come along and enjoy their dinner party. At the session, the guests can prepare brunch, lunch or dinner under the supervision of an expert chef, and then enjoy with their friends. In addition to be able to play head chef, there will also be a series of “food for thought workshops”, touching on ideas like reducing food waste, fermentation, clean eating and more.

If getting a spot in the kitchen isn’t possible – or you’re not keen on any restaurant that involves cooking yourself – anyone can pop into the IKEA café and sample a variety of Swedish treats.

And if your love of IKEA ever takes you to its Swedish homeland, the country now has a whole museum dedicated to the company and its furniture through the ages.
