World’s largest indoor theme park opens in Dubai

The world’s largest indoor theme park opened in Dubai yesterday after a two-week delay.

The IMG Worlds of Adventure is packed with 22 rides and attractions spread out over four themed worlds, including a zone dedicated to dinosaurs.

The Marvel zone features characters like the Hulk and Spider-Man from the Marvel universe. Visitors can battle Avengers’ villain Ultron or take a ride in the Thor Thunder Spin. Younger children can enjoy Cartoon Network attractions with the Powerpuff Girls or Adventure Time featuring heavily.

As well as rides, there will also be live shows, character meet and greets, movies, shops and themed restaurants scattered throughout the park.

The park was originally scheduled to open on 15 August but delayed to add some “final touches”. Tickets cost Dh300 for adults or Dh250 for children, with children under the age of three allowed free. Advance tickets are also available online

IMG Worlds of Adventure is just one of the many theme parks planned for the United Arab Emirates region in the coming years. A Warner Bros park is planned for Abu Dhabi, while Doha wants to open a park inspired by mobile game Angry Birds.
