The world of automated food continues to evolve, as America is now home to an ATM machine which dispenses piping hot pizza pies.
This machine, the kind that fulfills the dreams of late night snack lovers, is being debuted at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio this week. For just $9, a hot 12 inch pizza can be yours in just three minutes flat or the ‘take home’ (cold) option will be dispensed in just 30 seconds. Pizza lovers can choose toppings for their pies via a touchscreen and pay for it by credit card, before it is baked and dispensed to users in just 180 seconds.

Creators of the machine, French company Paline, have high standards for their products and all chefs involved in keeping the machine fully stocked must participate in 40 hours of training with them. The pizzas are reportedly handmade by staff in Xavier university’s highly acclaimed Hoff Dining Hall and the slick new machine can stock up to 70 pizzas at a time. But, it is understood that the university is preparing to have 300 pies ready to stock the machine with to keep hungry students and staff fed on a daily basis.
The mobile pizza oven machine reportedly costs $55,000 and despite being invented 14 years ago, it is understood to be the first of it’s kind in North America. The French company behind the Pizza ATM boasts that its ‘extended pizza menu, exceptional hygiene and outstanding reliability’ is what sets them apart.
Pizzas will be available to the university’s 6000-strong student population and workforce just in time for the new semester which kicks off later this month. The university confirmed the installation of the machine- which will be in operation seven days a week, 24 hours a day- last week saying they have ‘stepped up (their) game’.
Fans of the pie who are dubious about the quality of the pizza need not worry, as one of the lucky few who have already sampled it’s offerings have reportedly claimed it to be one of the ‘best’ they have ever had.
