Hawaii Tourism Authority launches interactive GoHawaii app for travellers

A new interactive app has been launched to showcase popular destinations and promote safety for tourists visiting Hawaii.

The GoHawaii app was unveiled by the Hawaii Tourism Authority this week and showcases the beautiful and diverse islands while offering a range of useful information through a simple to use interface.

The app allows users to input their desired destination, interests and the season of their visit and then it generates a list of suggested activities and areas of interest based on the information provided.

As well as a list of general travel tips for preparing for a journey, the app has specialist safety tip categories that include water safety and beach practices, hotel and road safety, and a guide to disaster preparation in emergency situations.

It also features helpful links with information on Honolulu International Airport, U.S Visa applications, statewide emergency contacts, Hawaiian consulates and procedures for lost or stolen credit cards. An integrated weather map of the region allows visitors to browse real-time and weekly conditions.

The app even features a range on “Locomojis”, allowing users to share uniquely Hawaiian emoticons on their smart phones.

The app is available on the Apple App Store on Google Play now.
