Passionate Pokémon fans party at Pikachu parade in Yokohama

Fans of the pop culture phenomenon Pokémon gathered for a spectacular Pikachu parade in Yokohama, Japan last week.

The parade was part of the Pikachu Tairyou Hassei-Chu, or ‘An Outbreak of Pikachus” festival that has been a popular annual event since it began in 2014.

The Pokemon party is part of the week-long dance festival held in the Minato Mirai district in Yokohama aimed at bringing tourists and visitors to the city.

It saw 1000 enthusiastic performers in full Pikachu attire, marching in the streets near Tokyo and waving to delighted fans.

Pokémon has seen a resurgence in popularity recently with the launch of the interactive augmented reality app Pokémon Go.
