Lucky Instagrammers have their travel snaps turned into limited edition scarves

Instagram is filled with amazing travel photos from around the world, but some lucky Australians had their best snaps turned into a luxury scarf with the help of Qantas and Australian scarf designers.

The airline ran an Instagram contest asking users to submit their favourite travel photos. Qantas selected four images that have now been turned into luxury silk scarves in collaboration with designers “Bird & Knoll”, a company whose scarves have been worn by celebrities like Miranda Kerr, according to a Qantas statement. The scarves are now on sale to the public. The “Destinations” scarf images depict four different destinations, which include Tamworth in New South Wales, Venice Beach in Los Angeles, wild giraffes in South Africa and Bondi’s iconic Iceberg ocean baths in Sydney – and all of which were shot spontaneously during travel adventures.

This isn’t the airline’s first time combining fashion and travel – last year the companies worked together to create a “Feels like Home” scarf that was inspired by the city of Melbourne. Qantas Group Executive Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Olivia Wirth, said that the new scarves showcase Australian talent. “We all love sharing our adventures and travel experiences on social media, but to have your work featured on a Bird & Knoll scarf is definitely the next level up. It’s obvious that there are some incredibly gifted Qantas customers out there, and we love the way their images capture the magic of travel in a really natural, evocative way”.
