Does the sight of a mud-filled Glastonbury fill you with dread rather than excitement? Do you love festivals but simply hate the hassle? Instead of trekking through the mud and huddling in a canvas tent, Groovefest wants to bring festivals to a new, luxurious level; by combining international DJs with a tropical Caribbean holiday.
The luxury music festival is entering its fourth year in the Dominican Republic and this year comes to the new venue of Barcelo Bavara Beach, a five star resort located on a 2km long sandy beach. Surrounded by turquoise water and a coral reef, this is definitely not Worthy Farm.
Best of all, attendees don’t need to bring anything to the festival except their swimming costume. The ticket price includes all your food, drink, accommodation and alcohol and your transfers from Punta Cana airport. There will be no queuing at the burger van either; food here includes nine a la carte restaurants with cuisine covering everything from Japanese to Mexican.
Ok, enough about the sun and luxury, what about the music? House music rules supreme here, with legends Claude von Stroke, Derrick Carter, Sam Divine and Kenny Dope all taking to the decks, but electronic music fans can also expect DJ Pierre and Gorgon City among the acts entertaining the sun worshippers. There will also be specially curated boat parties, which will be an additional cost.
Seven nights all inclusive starts from £985/US$1480 per person, not including flights. You can book anything from a three night stay upwards at the luxury music festival and there’s a range of accommodation to choose from. Groovefest takes place on an adult-only resort.
