Indian artist sets new world record with 100 stunning sand sculptures

A talented sand artist has set a new record in India after creating 100 sand chariots or, “Sand Rathas”.

Sudarsan Pattnaik carved the colourful creations at Puri Beach in Odisha recently as part of the Rath Yatra festival and has a number of records already under his belt for his creations from previous years.

The project took a week to do, with Pattnaik getting assistance from 25 of his close students. It took 800 bags of sand and 20 hours of work every day to complete. The hours of hard work paid off however, with the sculptures being entered into the Limca Book of Records.
