Many people delight at the prospect of an all-day breakfast menu, but one company is hoping that love will extend enjoying a bowl of cereal at any time of the day. Kellogg’s – maker of morning favourites like Froot Loops and Rice Krispies – is opening a new cereal café in New York dedicated to a variety of new creations.
The concept already exists at London’s headline-grabbing Cereal Killer Café – and it seems it was only a matter of time for a major cereal company to get in on the action. Kellogg’s NYC will open 4 July on Broadway, offering a variety of milk-based and ice cream-based creations – all ranging between $6 and $8.
The creations include ‘pistachio lemon’ (Special K, Frosted Flakes, pistachios, lemon zest and thyme) ‘Berry Me in Green Tea’ (Rice Krispies, fresh strawberries and green tea powder), and ‘The Chai Line’ (Crispix, fresh peaches, chai tea powder).
The ice cream-based creations include ‘life in colour’ (Froot Loops, lime zest, marshmallows and passion fruit jam), ‘honey buzz’ (Honey Smacks, honey, toasted pecan and banana chips), and ‘you’re cracklin’ me up’ (Cracklin Oat Bran, with dried cranberries, white chocolate and toasted coconut).
Visitors will also be able to customise their dishes with a variety of toppings, and the options will rotate every three months. And just case you want your cereal to go, there will be a carry out option, with plans to launch a delivery service later in the year – apparently for people who don’t have a box in the cupboard at home. Naturally, the shop will also offer “fresh juices, milks and locally-roasted coffee”. According to a news release, “Kellogg’s NYC will be a destination that reminds guests of home and drives new curiosity around the cereal bowl”.
