Los Angeles public transport Metro extension is well underway

Los Angeles, California, is not a city exactly known for having fantastic public transport – in fact, it’s one of the most gridlocked cities in the world, with most people choosing to drive. However, there is a subway system and good news – it’s being extended! The Metro Purple line will be going westward for nine more miles with seven more stations. The aim is to provide a fast, dependable alternative for those travelling to and from LA areas like Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood.

It’s been a long time coming; this project has been under construction activities along Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea since August 2013, but the next step following the piling is decking – aka excavating the sidewalks – so beware, tourists will be using temporary pathways.

Things are expected to continue like this until the Autumn, and there will be weekend closures and bus stop relocations so if you’re visiting LA, check here for details. And it might be worth noting when booking hotels around La Brea at this junction that work will be ongoing 24/7.
