New Forza racing video game puts the squeeze on map of Australia

Australia figures prominently in the latest instalment of the popular Forza racing series – though its landmark sites have moved closer together for the benefit of the created geography of the game.

The newest version allows participants to motor from Surfers Paradise to Byron Bay along the Great Ocean Road.  Of course, you could decide to turn off and head west before getting to the Twelve Apostles. If so, you will soon reach the Yarra Valley and that means you are right beside the Outback.

It was at the E3 games conference this week in Los Angeles that Microsoft revealed that Forza was heading to the Antipodes with its new game due out later this year. There had to be some concessions so that the game’s map would not be widely separated across Australian landmarks in order for them to fit snugly into a video game universe.
