This may be the most winning combination for a holiday ever – yoga and wine rolled into one in this amazing first-time ever ‘certified yoga and wine retreat’ in a Tuscan castle.
The Castello Potentino is the joint project launched by the sommelier of London’s famous River Café, Emily O’Hare. It is a dream holiday that combines wine tastings with O’Hare and Vinyasa yoga classes with Nadia Steward, whilst meals are prepared at Castello Pontino by the River Café chef Avinash Kumar.
The five day stay also includes such quintessentially Tuscan pastimes such as spa trips to outdoor thermal baths at Bagno-Vignoni, as well as pasta and risotto classes with Italian Michelin-starred chef Roberto Rossi. The Castello Potentino is a beautiful medieval castle that once belonged to a series of Tuscan noble families near the town of Seggiano. The Castle now has been restored and converted to bring its beauty up to spec.
Along with the huge focus on wine-tasting and food workshops, and the consumption of both wine and food, there will also be trips taken to nearby famous estates such as the Sesti family estate. The Sesti estate is one of the most famous in Italy, with 254 acres of land covered in vineyards. O’Hare said that she learnt from her experience working in the River Café that people were hugely interested in wines as well as Tuscany, and would be extremely eager to pursue a holiday involving both.
The reason she’s classifying the Castello Potentino retreat as the first ‘certified wine and yoga retreat’ is because attendees walk away with a WSET Level 1 diploma in wine tasting after the course, and no doubt a pack of beautiful memories to boot.
