For many people, the word vacation conjures up images of white sands, crystal clear water and swaying palm trees. But according to Expedia, all American tourists want to do is party all the time.
Yup, Las Vegas is the most popular destination in the United States according to the popular booking site. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Expedia looked at their data over the last two decades, and it was Vegas that came out on top. Orlando was in second place, suggesting that when Americans have some spare time, they just want to enjoy themselves and blow off steam. Some people chose rollercoasters, others casinos, but both cities are definitely pleasure-leisure destinations.
New York came in third and Los Angeles fourth (does this settle the age-old battle of east coast versus west?), while other Californian cities San Diego and San Francisco were in fifth and sixth place respectively.
