BarkFest New York City is billed as the world’s biggest festival for dogs “and their groupies”, and will be held in Hudson River Park’s Pier 97 on 22 May from 2 to 8pm. The festival will feature games, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and appearances from some pretty famous “celebridogs” like Marnie the 13-year-old Shih Tzu, Tuna the Chihuahua/Dachshund, and Crusoe the Dachshund, available for visitors to meet at the “Culture Pawvillion”.

Naturally, visitors are encourage to bring (and clean up after) their dogs – though they must be comfortable staying on-leash in a crowd, pups over six months old must be spayed or neutered and you can only bring two dogs per adult. Because it’s a festival, anyone interested in going does have to buy a wristband to enter for $40, but that does include bringing in your pups. VIP wristbands, that include “VIPup entrance” and premium viewing at the main stage, have already sold out.

The event is hosted by BarkShop, so there will be plenty of toys and dog gear for anyone looking to spoil their animal. But more than just bringing together people and dogs for a bit of fun, the event will also feature pups from local rescues and shelters from around New York in case you’re hoping to find a new furry friend.
