Sydney cafe's red velvet lattes are cupcakes in liquid form and we want one now

After the beautiful rainbow lattes of last week, the caffeine addicts of the internet are now drooling over a Sydney cafe’s latest coffee creation; red velvet lattes.

The drink is designed to warm patrons in the upcoming Australian autumn, giving a caffeine hit with all the flavour of a cupcake. It certainly makes a welcome change from pumpkin spice lattes.

You can try the new hybrid drink in the Local Mbassy cafe in Sydney, who describe it as “a warm marshmallowy cupcake in liquid form”. While you’re there, can you get one for us too?

Introducing our new autumn menu! Featuring our new Red Velvet Latte + the new and improved Red Velvet Pancake with berry butter cream and velvety popcorn and the newest addition to our brunch menu, Mr McQuack with delicious duck awarma, poached eggs, croquettes, caramelised peach and drizzled with our 10 year old truffle balsamic. If you’re fond of grabbing a coffee on the go, be warned it apparently takes a full 30 minutes to make, so you might want to plan ahead. Amateur baristas can also experiment at home; though the cafe remains tight-lipped about the method, the ingredients definitely include cream, vanilla, cocoa powder and some food colouring.

If you’re feeling peckish, the drink goes well with a very special accompaniment: the cafe’s red velvet pancakes with berry butter-cream and red velvety popcorn. Are you as hungry as we are yet?
