The bear truth: is this snowboarder really being chased by a bear in this video, or is it faked?

Snowboarders might want to think twice about heading down empty slopes with headphones on after they’ve seen this video.

Kelly Murphy was snowboarding at Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park in Japan, singing along to Rihanna and filming herself with a selfie stick – but when she watched the footage back she realised a bear had been chasing her down the slope.

Visibility looks to be pretty poor so Kelly hadn’t noticed that the huge bear had got frighteningly close to her at one point.

She uploaded the video to YouTube, writing: “OMG! I was going through my snowboarding videos and I found a bear chasing me!!! I nearly got eaten!!!”

Not everyone is convinced the video is real, with some people commenting on YouTube that the bear, and sounds you can hear, must be fake. But it looks like bears – specifically Asian Black Bears – are found in that area of Japan.
