Free public Wi-Fi hotspots in Singapore set to double by 2018

The number of free Wi-Fi hotspots in Singapore will be doubled to 20,000 by 2018 and allow users to surf the web at more than twice the current speed.

Home to the world’s highest percentage of smartphone users and second only to Tokyo with its hotspots-to-population ratio, Singapore will receive expanded services in public places such as hawker centres, hospitals and tourist areas. The Wireless@SG network speed is also set to increase to 5Mpbs from the current 2Mpbs. Read more: singapore.coconuts.co
