Whistler Blackcomb proposes $345 million plan to make resort ‘weather independent’

British Columbia ski resort Whistler Blackcomb has put forward a plan to make the property a year-round destination, complete with an indoor waterpark, more biking and hiking trails and real estate development.

Expressing a need to provide more options for visitors when the weather doesn’t cooperate, the CEO of Whistler Blackcomb said the plan would boost visitation during the summer months. The first phase of the project will install a $100 million indoor waterpark consisting of 163,000 sq ft of water slides, wave simulators, rock climbing and cliff jumping. Phases two and three will install a new lodge and real estate developments consisting of 60 townhomes. Read more: cbc.ca
