Using satellite infrared technology, scientists have discovered evidence of a second Viking settlement in North America, 300 miles south of the one found in L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland.
Researchers believe satellite imagery shows the existence of man-made structures. Magnetometer readings also taken at the site revealed elevated iron levels, and further excavation yielded evidence of metallurgy not associated with native residents of the area.
