Hundreds of plane spotters assembled to watch the Emirates plane touchdown at Birmingham Airport on schedule for its inaugural Dubai trip.

The Airbus A380 is 238 feet long and weighs 560 tons. It can accommodate 557 economy passengers and 58 business class passengers. The new extra large carrier was announced by Emirates in December of last year and is expected to boost the airline’s capacity to the Middle East by 15%.
