The Austrian brewery turned beer spa that lets you bask in gallons of pints

A warm bath of endless beer may sound like someone’s dream, but thanks to one forward thinking brewery in Austria it can now be a reality.

Starkenberger Brewery in Austria turned fermenting vats into drinkable beer pools and it’s promoting itself as the ‘ultimate man spa’ (although women are quite partial to beer too).

The Austrian brewery is historically situated in the beautiful 700 year old Starkenberger Castle in Tarrenz, where the beer was originally produced and fermented. But in 2005 the vats became obsolete and the owners decided to put them to good use considering they are attractive and situated in the cellar of a castle.

The old brewery now claims to have the “world’s only beer swimming pools” which stretch across seven enormous old vats and contain the equivalent of 42,000 pints! Visitors can get into the vats that are warmed and are invited to drink beers while doing so (although they don’t recommend the beer in the pool, but mainly because it’s quite hot).

Beer has been well known as a source of vitamins and calcium. Sitting in beer for a period softens and is good for the skin, and can help heal skin conditions such as psoriasis.
