Iconic LA streetlamp artwork to be switched off for a couple of months for repairs

It’s been brightening up the sidewalk outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art since 2008, but Urban Light, an installation of 202 street lamps of varying height, needs to be switched off for a couple of months for repairs.

The strong California sun has caused the paint to fade and rust over the years but the team in charge of its conservation has found a replacement paint that should stand the test of time – and LA weather. The lights will go out 1 May for around two months.
