The new Taroko Express train, which runs from Taipei to Taitung in southern Taiwan, is kittied out in Hello Kitty decorations, from the patterns on the seats to the painted motif on the exterior of the train. Hello Kitty-themed boxed meals are also sold aboard the train. The inaugural run saw the train depart from Shulin station in southern Taipei and travel to Taitung along Taiwan’s east coast. Special services featuring the train will run throughout March, and starting on 21 April, the Hello Kitty train will run a return route between Shulin and Jhihben every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
