Travelling is a great way to fall in love with a new place – but some millennials think it may also be the best place to fall in love with someone else.
One-in-eight millennial men are hoping to meet their next partner while travelling, according to research from Topdeck Travel, a group travel company for 18 to 30-somethings. The study was conducted by research firm YouGov through an online survey of 1,158 American millennials in February.
While finding love may be an ambitious plan for a vacation, Topdeck’s research found that one-in-eleven post-grad millennials had actually met a significant other with travelling abroad.
The lure of going travelling also outweighs the prospect of another date at home; as more than one-third of millennials (37%) said they would give up dating in order to save up the money to travel. More women, at 41%, are willing to sacrifice their dating life than men, at 32%, in order to get the necessary cash for their next adventure, according to a press release.
But if people are sacrificing dates at home to save up to travel, it may be because one in 11 is hoping to find their significant other while on vacation. One-in-eight men and one-in-twenty women are hoping to meet their next partner while on the road – making for one interesting souvenir.
