Prepare to be scared at new permanent Walking Dead attraction in California

Ever watch the Walking Dead and wonder if you could survive the zombie apocalypse? Fans will soon be able to try as Universal Studios Hollywood has announced it will open a permanent attraction that will bring the television show to life.

The Walking Dead – based on a comic book of the same name – follows the story of survivors in a world overrun by zombies. In the past, Universal Studios Hollywood has worked with the Walking Dead creators on a maze for its Halloween Horror Nights, but now the feature will be permanent, allowing fans to be terrified any day of the year.

According to Universal, the Walking Dead attraction will “create a no-holds-bar experience that significantly intensifies any other iteration previously developed within the theme park. Coupled with authentic walker make-up effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series, the attraction will deliver an uncompromised realistic environment that brings guests even further into the most watched show in cable television history”.

The attraction will be in an entirely new, custom-built structure and will open this summer at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles County.
