Vietnam resort town to demolish beachside buildings to allow better sea views

Multiple large buildings in the popular coastal resort town of Nha Trang in Vietnam are to be demolished to allow improved access and better sea views, according to plans announced by local authorities.

The plan would see many restaurants, guesthouses and hotels – including a large resort that stretches over 500m along the beach – taken down by 2018, with private companies to be compensated. Nha Trang has undergone rapid change due to tourism demands in recent years, leading to concerns about overdevelopment and environmental effects. According to the Institute of Oceanography, tourism-related construction has damaged the ecology of Nha Trang Bay, with some species now close to extinction. Read more: thanhniennews.com
