Game of Thrones dragons take over Union Square in New York today

Game of Thrones most fantastical beasts (the dragons!) are descending on Union Square in New York City today in celebration of the release of the fifth series of show.

Union Square’s North Plaza has been transformed into a dragon landing pad, complete with dragon footprints, claw skid marks, dug up concrete, rising smoke and crushed benches. Fans are encouraged to come by and take pictures. At 7:30pm tonight in Herald Square, a surprise cast member will introduce a screening of a 20 minute animated feature “Dance of Dragons” that will be included on the Blu-ray of the series. The event will conclude with a 3D projection of a dragon soaring across the city. Read more: gothamist.com
