Wanted: Official ambassadog to promote the spirit of Scotland to the world

Canine ambassadors are going to be a thing and we are all very excited! Scotland is currently hiring an official “ambassadog” to help represent the “spirit of Scotland” to the world.

The Scottish government’s tourism agency, Visit Scotland, has opened up applications to all dogs that wish to represent their country. The job spec states somewhat hilariously that all dogs looking to apply must be “outgoing, Scotland-loving, and well-trained” as well as being a great lover of Scottish walks and trails.

The candidates (and their owners one presumes) are asked to submit a 500 word personal statement on why they would be the best ambassadog to represent Scotland, as well as their knowledge of the “sights and smells” of the country and any previous PR or social media experience.

Whilst the role isn’t paid, the owner and the chosen dog would be treated to an “exclusive, inspirational, and unique dog-friendly holiday” during the ambassadog’s year-long appointment.

“The role is open to all dogs from all regions of Scotland. The ability and enthusiasm to travel with their owner across Scotland (and in some cases across the rest of the UK) is vital, as is having a ‘nose’ for the best food & drink, events and walks across the country!”

We’re looking forward to meeting this Scotland-loving canine extrovert in the coming months!
