Asia prepares for solar eclipse on Wednesday

A solar eclipse will be visible across large parts of Asia on Wednesday morning, as the moon passes in front of the sun creating four minutes of totality in parts of the Pacific Ocean.

The Indonesian islands of Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi fall in the zone of totality, but a partial eclipse will be visible as far west as Delhi in India. An estimated 10,000 tourists are expected to attend the spectacle, which is being marked by special events across Indonesia, including special rituals by Dayak tribal people to ensure the sun returns after the eclipse.
