Sparkling superyacht wows at Dubai boat show

What do you get the billionaire who has everything? How about a superyacht that literally sparkles?

The new concept yacht Moonstone was unveiled at the 2016 Dubai Boat Show earlier this week by Oceanco, a custom superyacht builder. The eye-catching exterior features a multi-faceted hull which the company says “reflect the water and play off sunlight”, creating a unique twinkling effect.

Oceanco worked with two specialist design and lighting companies to create a system to replicate the surrounding colours of the ocean. A series of cameras will capture beautiful scenes like sunrises or a clear night sky and project them on to overhead panels. Additionally, solar panels will allow the light panels on the hull to illuminate the water at night.

If you’re looking for more than sparkle in your superyacht, it also features a helicopter pad, huge gym and spa area, cinema room, sky deck lounge with 360-degree panoramic views, as well as space for 14 guests (and double the amount of crew!) as well as your personal watercraft and mini-submarine.

The reaction on social media has been hugely positive to the concept art and the scale model will remain on display in Dubai until 5 March. With the design complete and the parts tested, now all the Moonstone needs to come to life is one excited billionaire who wants to make their dream a reality.
