Leap year confuses baggage software at Düsseldorf

Hundreds of travellers flying to and from Düsseldorf, were left without their luggage this week when the baggage conveyor system failed due to the fact the software running it didn’t account for 2016 being a leap year.

The computer system didn’t recognise the date 29 February, meaning that 1200 suitcases had to be manually hauled to their owners. Airport spokesperson Christian Hinkel told The Local news outlet, “We hope that we’ll do better in four years.” Read more: thelocal.de
