Delhi government says no to CCTV in dance bars

The Supreme Court in Delhi has ruled against a proposal to crack down on dance bars in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Amongst other proposals, the state government had planned to install a direct video feed from licensed dance bars to the nearest police station, and the construction of a three foot wall dividing dancers from patrons. The crackdown on dance bars was just the latest in a string of moral policies introduced by hardline Hindu groups in the state parliament. Maharashtra has now been ordered to grant licenses to the hundreds of bars which have applied, with a deadline of 15 March. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
